Carl Roberts — Sign Painter

Here's a picture of ol' Duncan a few years ago when he went skydiving. The parachute was one of those old round ParaCommander chutes, not one of the better square ones. Yeah, it's an old picture, they quit using those chutes shortly after the photo was taken.



And that's a frozen Wisconsin farm field in the background, so the landing was on hard ground. The other fella in the photo is carrying a rolled-up red arrow that was a crude form of communication to say such things as "turn left, you idiot".



Oh... "skydiving" is probably not the correct term, because no free fall was involved, it was what they call a "hop and pop", using a static line so ya only fall about 500 feet before the chute opens. So it was really just a parachute jump.



The other picture includes a nice chrome steelhead, fresh out of Lake Superior and caught on its spawning run in the famous Brule river, where four of our US Presidents have fished.



I also like old cars and have two, a '39 Chev two door sedan that was a frame-off restoration, and a '49 Studebaker, also restored Besides aviation, fishing, and the old cars, I like coin and stamp collecting and acoustic guitars.



And I guess I'm too dumb to be scared of much, some day I'll have to tell ya about how I single-handedly shut down a biker bar with about thirty patrons in it, despite the fact that I knew at least five of them werecarrying guns that night. But by day I'm just a friendly ol' sign painter who really loves his job, been at the same shop for nearly thirty years.



So that's a few o the many sides of ol' Duncan.
